Interactive Works by Damian Tab
Interactive Art and AR Experiences
Damian Tab expanded his practice beyond physical surfaces into interactive and digital experiences.
Through projects such as the Artab mobile application and Augmented Reality (AR) filters on Instagram, his characters and visual language moved off the wall and into the viewer’s world.
These works allowed people not just to see the art, but to engage with it — to activate it, interact with it, and become part of it.
Rooted in his street art practice, these digital layers often began in real locations — primarily in Tel Aviv — and extended into playful, sometimes unexpected interactions through the screen.
Artab Application
Artab is a mobile application developed by Damian Tab as part of his exploration of augmented reality and interactive art in urban spaces.
Designed to work directly with his street artworks, Artab connects physical locations with digital layers — turning the city itself into an interactive platform.
Through Artab, Damian extended his practice beyond walls and surfaces, creating experiences that unfold in real time and in specific places — primarily in Tel Aviv, where most of his works were created.
The application reflects his ongoing interest in merging street art with technology, allowing artworks to exist simultaneously in the physical world and in a digital, responsive layer.
Damian Tab explored interactive and digital formats as an extension of his visual language.
Through augmented reality filters and mobile-based experiences, his characters moved beyond physical surfaces — becoming something viewers could engage with in real time.
How it works?
With Artab, the experience didn’t start on the screen — it started in the street.
You could walk through the city, find one of Damian Tab’s artworks, and point the app at it.
Suddenly, a new layer would appear — a hidden world emerging from the piece itself.
Characters would come to life, elements would move, and the artwork would begin to play with you.
You could interact with it, take photos, record videos — turning a static piece into a living, personal experience.
Instagram AR Filters
Damian created a series of Augmented Reality (AR) filters on Instagram using Spark AR, allowing his characters and visual elements to appear directly within the viewer’s environment.
These filters transform everyday moments into playful, surreal interactions — continuing the same visual language found in his street art and studio work.
Plague Doctor Instagram Filter
Created during the COVID period, this AR filter reflects Damian Tab’s response to isolation and uncertainty — translating it into a surreal, slightly humorous plague doctor character.
Spooky Worms Instagram Filter
Created for Friday the 13th, this filter uses the same worm creatures that appear in Damian’s game world — bringing them into a playful, slightly unsettling augmented reality experience crolling on your face.
Seed Head Instagram Filter
The “seed head” is a recurring character across Damian Tab’s street art, studio work, and the game Seed Odyssey.
In his game world, puking is not weakness — it is a form of defense and attack.
A physical, raw mechanic used to fight and survive.
This filter brings that same logic into AR — turning a central character from Damian’s universe into an interactive experience.
